The Harvey Richards Media Archive contains over a thousand photo images shot during the years from 1957 to 1980. Many hundreds of his images are presented on this web site in 44 photo image galleries. His photographic career began in 1958 with a Leica 35 mm camera and then expanded with his acquisition of two Hasselblad 120 mm cameras. In more than 20 years of photographing, Harvey Richards created a rich portrait of the world he witnessed and the values he espoused.
His photographic legacy is presented in these pages:
The vast bulk of the collection centers on the political movements he chose to support with his photos and films. The rest were taken along the way and increasingly, as he got older, reflected his preferences for the wilderness and forests of northern California and Oregon.
