This book is the second volume of a trilogy of books that presents Nina’s poetry written from 1969 to 2012. The trilogy is called Heart Suite. Volume one is Heart Song, the Collected Poems of Nina Serrano, 1969-1979, Volume three will be Heart Strong, Selected Poems, 2000-2012 and will be coming out later this spring in both ebook and POD formats at Amazon.com. The cover of the book, pictured here on the right (click on it to enlarge), shows Nina’s drawings that are included in the book and that come from her journals of those years. The drawings, together with the poems, offer the reader a multi-faceted story of her life and thought over the last twenty years of the 20th Century.
Here is what Mary Rudge, Poet Laureate of Alameda, California has to say about Heart’s Journey:
“Nina Serrano’s poems center on the great adventure of being a woman. From youthful visionary to ultimate wise woman, Nina’s poems and drawings take you through the intricate passages of life’s mysteries. This intimate journey of the mind and heart is a book to cherish. One thinks of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Che Guevara giving it their blessing. This is an adventure book of life itself, a woman’s life transcribed in strong, courageous, heartfelt poems.”
