Timber Tigers consume the forests using the corporate logging practices we know as clear cutting. Approaching the environment as an input to create profits is a narrow view of earth’s resources which fails to take into account the impact of ecological devastation left behind on logged out hillsides. Deforestation not only removes the forest from the land, it also destroys the habitat of animals, birds and insects that contribute to a healthy environment. It contributes to global warming and the high rate of extinction of species around the globe.
Timber Tigers and the Doomsday March of Technology
Corporate logging fails to foresee the collapse of local economies built during the logging boom. Timber Tigers presents footage of predatory corporate logging of the forests and the impacts of deforestation on logging towns of northern California and Oregon. It also presents images that Harvey Richards filmed on a national tour of forest areas, including seldom seen giant forest-cutting machinery that harvests trees across the country. The film exposes the forestry industry approach to logging: “After us, the deluge and the desert.” See Environment Photo Galleries.
