On Writing Nicaragua Way 5:
In this fifth video, Another World Is Possible, of a five part series, I discuss the basic premises behind Nicaragua Way and the sources of inspiration that brought me to write a Latino social justice historical novel. It is a story about the struggle and the process to create a world where we all have the right to a place on the planet. No matter where we are, we should have the right to think, to speak, to work, to study and to receive health care.
Another World Is Possible
My protagonist, Lorna Almendros, ages and matures within a movement that embraces these ideals, as she interacts with people in local and global political movements around her. Nicaragua Way offers readers hope and inspiration to persevere despite electoral set backs such as occurred in Nicaragua in 1990 and today in the United States in 2016. My longtime belief in human rights animates the plot, characters, dialogue and settings of Nicaragua Way when the people of Nicaragua were creating a new world based on human rights for all.
