Check out the quiz on the 1963 March on Washington put out by Teaching for Change based on its book Putting the Movement back into Civil Rights Teaching. The quiz asks questions to test your knowledge and cites books for study.  One book cited is Critical Focus, the Black and White Photographs of Harvey Richards, by Paul Richards, published by Estuary Press in 1987.

From the civilrightsteaching.org. post: “When many people think of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, all that comes to mind is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s statement, “I Have a Dream.” However, there was much more to this historic event than four words in King’s speech. The March on Washington was a milestone in a movement that consisted of many years of activism, organizing, and civil disobedience by a wide variety of groups that made up the Civil Rights Movement.
